ACE's (Adverse Childhood Experiences)
Adverse childhood experiences , or ACE's, are potentially traumatic events that occur in childhood (0-17 years). ACEs are linked to chronic health problems, mental illness, and substance misuse in adulthood. ACEs can also negatively impact education and job opportunities. However, ACEs can be prevented.

What is
"Trauma-Informed Care"?

"Trauma-informed care is a strengths-based framework that is grounded in an understanding of and responsiveness to the impact of trauma, that emphasizes physical, psychological, and emotional safety for both providers and survivors, and that creates opportunities for survivors to rebuild a sense of control and empowerment."

Letter from the CCRT Chair:
Welcome to the Cheboygan County Resiliency Team website. Whether you know a little or a lot about the Trauma Informed Approach and ACE’s (Adverse Childhood Experiences) this is the place to learn something new, gain further insight, and get support.
Our Resilience Team’s goal is to create a Trauma Informed Community in Cheboygan County. This means we will be sharing all kinds of information on this site, including, definitions of Trauma Informed language, tips for parents or anyone caring for children who come from hard places, area events and activities for families, as well as trainings regarding the Trauma Informed Approach and ACE’s, and much more! If the events of 2020 have taught us anything, it is that we are more resilient when we all work together. We are so glad you found us and look forward to working together on this journey toward a Trauma Informed Community. Wishing you well!
Respectfully,
Julie Waldron
